Self-Determination

The current service system for people with developmental disabilities in Nevada is based on a traditional service model, which often results in little choice regarding housing, employment, and recreation. Nevada needs to adopt a self-determination model of service, in which people control their own lives, make their own decisions and control their own budgets with the help of a trusted circle of support. Our project will bring together the stakeholders in the system to learn about self-determination and to work towards the systems change that will allow people with developmental disabilities to control their lives and direct the services they need.
